YouTube has become one of the fastest and easiest way to view music videos by many song artists. With that, no more waiting for music video on TV, like once were required in the past.

Many newer hits from famous artists that live inside the era of the internet can hit 1 billion views on YouTube quite easily, if compared to older artists that lived and thrived from selling traditional physical records, and popular on music television channels.

From Despacito, to Bad Romance, Gangnam Style from Psy, and many others, and not to mention music videos from Ed Sheeran, Maroon 5, Taylor Swift, Adele, Justin Bieber, Bruno Mars and others. All have billion if not billions of views on YouTube, despite debuting much later.

And one older artist that finally managed to hit 1 billion views on YouTube, is Linkin Park, with its In the End music video.

Achieving the milestone after a little over a decade since uploading the video on YouTube, one of the rock band’s co-founders, Mike Shinoda, took it to Twitter to celebrate and thanking fans for helping this possible for their 20-year-old song.

In the End first came out on October 24, 2000, as the eighth track of Linkin Park's debut album 'Hybrid Theory'. The song was released as the album's second single.

The song achieved mainstream popularity, and was a commercial success upon release.

It reached the top ten on numerous worldwide music charts, and reached number two on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100, which was the band's highest peak on the chart. It was also the band's first song that peaked within the top 40. The song also reached number one on the Z100 top 100 songs of 2002 countdown, ranked at number 121 at Blender magazine, and Billboard's second most played rock song of the decade.

Due to its popularity among fans, the song was the most played song in all of the band's live performances.

The music video however, was only uploaded to YouTube on October 27, 2009.

The music video that was directed by Joe Hahn and Nathan “Karma” Cox, is one of Linkin Park's most recognizable and signature songs, one of the most recognized “Best Rock Video”, and was nominated as “Video of the Year” in the 2002 MTV Music Video Awards.

In the music video, Shinoda provided the vocals for the rap verses alongside the band’s late vocalist, Chester Bennington.

With the song's music video finally surpassing 1 billion views on YouTube, Linkin Park's In the End joins some other older rock music videos that have reached the 1-billion-views count on YouTube.

They include Nirvana’s Smells Like Teen Spirit, Queen’s Bohemian Rhapsody, The Cranberries’ Zombie and Guns N’ Roses’ November Rain.
