DuckDuckGo

DuckDuckGo is an internet search engine that emphasizes protecting searchers' privacy by avoiding the "filter bubble" of personalized search results. The search engine distinguishes itself from others by not profiling its users and by deliberately showing all users the same search results for a given search term. DuckDuckGo also does not store IP addresses and uses cookies only when needed.

Initially self-funded by Gabriel Weinberg, its founder, DuckDuckGo is now advertising-supported. The search engine that is written in Perl and runs on nginx, FreeBSD and Linux, generates search results from key crowdsourced sites such as Wikipedia and from partnerships with other search engines like Yandex, Yahoo!, Bing and WolframAlpha.

DuckDuckGo is built primarily upon search APIs from various vendors. The name originates from the children's game "duck, duck, goose".
