Facebook declines by 21 percent

Facebook is a giant social media network where users, brands, businesses from large to small, and anything in between gather. As it becomes a place for updates, memes and a stream of endless sharing, it also becomes more "empty".

While having more users using Facebook is practically what Facebook always wanted, but users have come to a moment where they actually share less. Facebook users are posting fewer personal updates than they used to.

Sharing has dropped 5 percent from mid-2014 to mid-2015. And the number of people that post their own personal updates about their thoughts, life, feelings, etc., has fell 21 percent during that same timeframe. The decline continues in 2016 is a slower 15 percent year-over-year pace.

The decline isn't affecting the company by much, but it's seen as a serious issue within the company. The number of declining users have made Facebook to create a dedicated team to figure out ways to increase sharing and posting.
