Facebook Launches ‘Professional Mode' So Content Creators Can Monetize From Their Profiles

When compared to "younger" social media networks, Facebook is kind of dull.

That in a sense that it's too complex. When Facebook was at its early years, people wanted a place where they can experience everything in one place. Facebook successfully delivered that, no doubt about it. But fast forward, the platform is not the most sought-after place it once was.

For ordinary users, to content creators, Facebook is not the place to go.

This time, Facebook wants to change that.

And that is by introducing what it calls the "professional mode," where creators can take advantage of additional monetization tools.

The approach is Facebook's way to keep up with creator-focused community, particularly TikTok, which is already ahead of Facebook in terms of user engagement.

On the announcement, Facebook's parent company Meta said that:

"Today we’re announcing new features on Facebook that allow creators to express themselves, build and engage a fan community, and make money pursuing their passions."

"We want creators to reach their full potential on Facebook and that means giving them ways to earn money and gain insights that help them understand what types of posts resonate with fans and communities. Until now, these tools were only available on Pages. We know that man"

Turning on this professional mode makes an account more like a Facebook Page.

For example, it unlocks audience, post, and profile insights. This should help content creators to keep track activities related to their profile. On top of that, creators can also review the total number of shares, comments, and reactions that their posts have received, and can also see how their follower count has changed over time.

And again similar to Pages, this professional mode makes all contents posted become public.

"Anyone can follow you and see your public content in their feed," Facebook said. However, creators can still limit specific posts or updates to friends only.

To entice content creators into using this professional mode, Facebook is allowing those who use it to partake in the Reels Play bonus program.

The bonus program lets creators earn up to $35,000/month, all depending on how many views their get.

It should be noted that Facebook is not accepting all creators.

At this time, the program is invite-only, and creators must comply with Meta’s Partner Monetization Policies before qualifying.

Additionally, Facebook plans to add even more advanced tools for Reels, like for example, a way to create Reels using multiple clips, as well as allowing users to save their Reels as draft while editing them.

The social giant is also considering extending the length limit of Reels from 30 seconds to one minute on Facebook, as only Instagram supports one-minute Reels at the moment.

This professional mode is initially introduced to users in the U.S., before coming to more countries "in the coming months."

Professional mode and its integration with the Reels program is part of Meta's $1 billion investment in creators that includes bonuses for Instagram influencers and an expansion to the Stars program, as announced by CEO Mark Zuckerberg.
