The German police have seized Elysium. The website that was launched in December 2016, had 87,000 members when the police seized its servers.

The website also hosted a forum used to exchange information, images and videos, as well as arranging appointments to abuse children.

The suspected administrator and the person in charge of the website, was a 39-year-old man. He was arrested in the district of Limburg-Weilburg north of Frankfurt. He has also been linked not only to spreading videos and images of child sex abuse, but is also suspected of carrying out sexual abuse to children.

He was arrested on June 12 when police raided his apartment seizing the server used to host the site.

"Among the child pornographic images and video files exchanged by the members of the platform were recordings of the most serious sexual abuse of children, including toddlers and depictions of sexual violence against children," said the prosecutors in a statement,

Elysium was one of those sites lurking inside the dark web, the anonymous part of the internet which can't be accessed using a typical search engine. Websites that are inside it, aren't accessible through normal means of browsing.

The investigation into Elysium is being conducted by the Central Agency for Fighting Internet Crime (ZIT) in Giessen, It's a highly specialized unit of the Generalstaatsanwaltschaft Frankfurt, which was set up in 2010 to fight internet crime nationwide..
