Ever since the very first viral celebrity sex tape, the internet has seen tons of others that followed.
One after another, more and more sex tapes were leaked, intentionally or not.
While some are legit, most others remain allegations. And the one that involved Joal Ong follows a similar pattern.
The 1994-born YouTube and Instagram celebrity based in Singapore had many of his sex tapes leaked.
The sex tape initially spread through online forums, before making its way to social media platforms, and adult websites.

The sex tapes deliberately shocked Singapore, but not entirely because it involves Joal.
But because it involves a number of women, with the most notable, his girlfriend at the time, Christabel Chua.
Christabel, or also known online as BellyWellyJelly, is a 1991-born Singaporean entrepreneur and social media content creator. She was also Miss Universe Singapore in 2014, where she made it to the top twelve finalists and claimed the titles "Miss Photogenic" and "Best Skin."
The sex tapes that were leaked have become her worst nightmare.
Soon after the public realized about the sex tapes, she became a prime target for cyberbullies.
It's worth noting that the sex tapes of her with Joal was leaked after she broke up with him.
Because of this, Joal pulled himself from social media and the internet, and focused on himself to not let the incident tear him down.

The sex tapes depicts a couple engaging in various sex acts.
Joal only began addressing the case a few months later in a then-deleted Instagram post, which reads:
"I have and again, want to sincerely apologise to everyone involved."
"I am immensely remorseful to all the people that have been hurt in the process."
"To clear up any uncertainties, it was a hacking incident on a default Cloud back up system that I was unaware of."
"Thankfully, after months of working with the authorities, the hacker has been identified and is facing ongoing investigations, awaiting charges."
"I would also like to clarify that I did not, and will not ever, share or send personal things to others."
"I fell extremely short of how a good person should be."
"I have since reflected, and am working on bettering myself to hopefully meet the prime examples that were shown to me, and to one day be deserving of the tremendous kindness and forgiveness that I have been given."
"Once again, I am sorry."
Christabel Chua also made a return about two months after the incident went viral.
She broke her silence, by saying that:
"When it first happened, I felt scared, humiliated, violated; and I did not know what to do. Who do I call? What do I say? And how to I make it all go away? Knowing that any action on my part could escalate the situation left me petrified [...] ."
"My modesty was discussed crudely in forums; people created anonymous email addresses and Instagram profiles to send me rude messages that detailed the perverse thoughts they had of me; angry messages were sent to my friends, family, and clients that I'd worked with."
"It was as if I was no longer worthy of being a daughter, a friend or an individual with any right to privacy."
"The internet became a major source of pain and torment."
" [...] The internet has always been a platform for me to spread joy, love and happiness. Yet, out of the tumult of emotions that descended on me, the sharpest that I’ve felt is disappointment. Disappointment at the blatant disregard for privacy and lack of basic human decency that many individuals have shown during this incident. I stand against cyber bullying and sexual harassment. And I certainly condemn the reckless sharing of private material in celebration of humiliation and amusement."
In the last two months, she claimed to have truly seen the best and worst of humanity.
To explained that she experienced cyberbullying at its worst.
" [...] Prior to that, I was a happy-go-lucky girl who used Instagram to connect with others who shared the same hobbies as I did. I would regularly update my followers with the happenings in my life."
But after things settled, and after she is "in the right headspace" to address the situation, she spoke of how a few individuals "going through the same torment" have reached out to her since the incident.
Christabel then turned her plight into an opportunity to provide support to victims of similar situations.

But what made the case larger than it should, is not only because of the sheer number of photos and videos, but because the sex tapes not only depict Joal and Christabel, but also Joal with some other women.
It's said that the leaked sex tapes also include Janella Ooi (bunnyjanjan), Xuen Yen (xuenyenyenyen), Abbey Tan (abymonsta), and probably more.
These sex tapes of these women were leaked after the sex tapes between Joal and Christabel were leaked.
In all, the leaked sex tapes account to around 27GB of data.

It's worth noting that Joal Ong, and the women he had sex with, did everything in the privacy of their bedrooms, behind closed doors, and away from anyone's concern.
They have no intention of leaking the sex tapes, or made a sensation about them.

The only issue here is that, the sex tapes were stolen from them, and leaked by bad actors.
When the sex tapes spread like wildfire, they effectively ruined Joal and the women's social lives.
