Google is the largest search engine of the web. But let's not forget about Bing, the search engine from Microsoft.

Webmasters and web owners that are active in maintaining their websites are always thinking of finding better ways to get noticed by search engines.

And here, users of WordPress, the most popular content management system (CMS), is getting pampered by Bing.

On its announcement, Bing said that:

"Today, we are excited to announce the release of Bing URL Submissions Plugin for WordPress as open source project."

"The plugin allows webmasters of WordPress sites to get their content easily, automatically and immediately indexed by Bing as soon as their content is published! Who in the SEO community has not dreamed of such ability?"

Webmasters and web owners have the ability to submit a maximum of 10,000 URLs per day. This followed Microsoft that operates the search engine Bing, that partners with Botify, an enterprise SEO platform.

More than that is possible, but only when requested through Bing Webmaster Tools' portal and the Bing Webmaster Tools API for immediate crawl and indexation.

With this Bing Webmaster Tools WordPress plugin, Bing has "made this submission super easy for WordPress sites."

Once installed and configured with an API key obtained from Bing Webmaster portal, the plugin will detect both page updates and new pages created in WordPress.

After that, the plugin will automatically submit the URLs behind the scenes to Bing Webmaster Tools API, to ensure that the site's pages are always fresh in Bing's index.

  2. Manually submit a URL to Bing Index.
  3. View list of recent URL submissions from the plugin.
  4. Retry any failed submissions from the recent submissions list.
  5. Download recent URL submissions for analysis.

To use the plugin, WordPress site owners need to first verify their site on Bing Webmaster.

The Bing URL Submissions Plugin is an open source software, and Bing has shared its source code on GitHub.

"We're here to help beyond WordPress: we open sourced this plugin to make it easier for webmasters having their own Content Management System and others Content Management System to reuse our ideas and ease integration with our API."
