YouChat, WhatsApp

The AI sphere was dull and boring, until generative AI took the market by storm.

When OpenAI introduced ChatGPT, it quickly awed and wowed the audience. Due to the high demand, it sent rivals into frenzy. One of them, is You.com, a search engine that allows users to personalize their search by letting its users upvote, downvote, or block apps.

Among its products, You.com has what it calls the 'YouChat', a multimodal AI chatbot for search.

It debuts earlier this 2023, allowing users to interact with it, and receive natural language answers to their queries, as well as surface related items such as code snippets and graphs.

This product was based on an internally developed large language model called C-A-L.

It uses a multimodal approach, which makes it a bit different than others.

According to You.com, conversational AI tools in the market, like OpenAI’s ChatGPT, focus primarily on providing text-based answers to user queries. You.com on the other hand, uses a multimodal approach that allows it to not only generates text answers but also surfaces other types of data in response to search queries.

When users search for the current price of a company’s shares, for example, YouChat can return a live stock chart.

If a developer is seeking assistance with a programming task, YouChat is capable of generating software code.

The chatbot can also return images, videos, spreadsheet tables and other items in response to user queries.

And this time, it's bringing that chatbot to WhatsApp "to solve everyday needs on the go."

"The mission is clear: make it accessible to as many people around the globe as possible and seamlessly integrate it into the apps you love, like WhatsApp."

With a presence on the world's most-popular messaging app, You.com on its blog post said that "now anyone can have their own AI personal assistant."

"Why surf the web for answers when you can text your own AI assistant to get them on demand?"

"In an age where information is abundant and often overwhelming, You.com isn’t just another search engine — it’s an AI personal assistant that helps you tackle your everyday tasks on the go. And it’s tailored to your needs."

With the chatbot, You.com said that "it’s all about empowering you to accomplish everyday tasks effortlessly, even when you’re on the move."

To interact with the chatbot, users just need to add +1 585-496-8266 to their WhatsApp contacts, or scan a QR code the company provides.

After that, users just need to open a new chat box with the AI, and send it question to receive instantaneous answers from You.com, "complete with credible sources and web links."

Best of all, it’s free, and that users can text it in their preferred language.

According to founder and CEO of You.com, Richard Socher, "Our goal is to build the most useful chat search engine."
