LinkedIn acquired Lynda for $1.5 billion, marking its largest acquisition in its twelve-years history. Lynda is an online learning platform with courses that cover a variety of topics, from anything between web design, web programming to time management.

LinkedIn acquired Lynda to create a better experience for LinkedIn users and increase user engagement, as well as number of views and more information about its users. The Lynda acquisition also enables LinkedIn to venture into predictive analytics and sell the reports to interested parties. And with hundreds of millions of LinkedIn users, Lynda's courses can reach a wider audience.

The acquisition will help LinkedIn to make its advertising product better through targeting and increased response rates. Better ad engagement means businesses will spend even more on LinkedIn advertising.
