Agawi for Google

20/12/2014

Google acquired Agawi, a company that streams apps. Agawi, or acronym for "any game, anywhere, instantly", is said to have the technology to incorporate streaming apps over the web without requiring users to download them first. The technology is used in applications like in-app ads to preview and promote gaming apps.

In addition to Android apps, Agawi can stream Windows PC games to an Android or iOS handset as well as connected TVs.

By acquiring the company, Google owns the technology. The three founders are listed among Google's employees.

Google's move to buy Agawi and integrate its technology inside it, is part of the search giant's larger efforts to get people back to using the web, and specifically away from downloading apps in order to use their content.
