Branch for Facebook

13/01/2014

Facebook acquired Branch Media, the New York startup behind conversation service Branch and link-sharing service Potluck. The announcement was first made by its co-founder Josh Miller in a Facebook post.

"We will be forming Facebook's Conversations group, based in New York City, with the goal of helping people connect with others around their interests," said Miller in the post. "Their pitch to us was: 'Build Branch at Facebook scale!'"

Before having multiple investors supporting its back, Branch has had a hard time. Branch and Potluck have been trying in various ways to create "smart communication" for almost two years, ever since he got funded by former Twitter executives. Branch, formerly known as Roundtable, was first launched in 2011. At that time, the company raised a $2 million seed funding.

Branch was acquired for a $15 million price tag.
