Binance's Cryptocurrency Widget On Brave Browser Released To All Desktop Users

Brave - Binance widget

The privacy-focused and cryptocurrency-friendly browser Brave, finally integrates a widget that taps into one of the world’s biggest cryptocurrency exchange, Binance.

After previously releasing the widget to its Nightly versions, a version that is a test and development ground for playing with new features within the browser, Brave is finally making the widget available for all of its desktop users, starting Brave version 1.8.

According to Brave on its announcement, the “first exchange-browser integration of its kind” allows Brave users buy, convert and deposit cryptocurrency from Binance, as well as see how much cryptocurrency they have deposited on Binance.

Brave noted that the widget is enabled by default, placing the Binance cryptocurrency exchange in front of all of the browser’s millions of desktop users.

To use the widget, Binance users can access the widget to connect the widget to their Binance account.

This can be done by clicking the 'Connect' button on the widget itself.

Once clicked, users will be prompted to authenticate with Binance.

Once successfully authenticated, the Binance widget is fully operable: users can then view their held assets, trade cryptocurrencies, deposit assets onto the exchange, convert between supported assets, and more.

Because the tool is simply a widget, the "content is built into the Brave desktop browser and is not loaded from Binance or any other server,” said Catherine Corre, Brave’s Head of Communications.

As the widget is built directly into the browser, it preserves user privacy because it will only communicate with the Binance API through authenticated user interaction.

Users can also disconnect the widget whenever they wish, by clicking 'disconnect' from the dropdown menu in the widget, to prevent the browser from further creating interaction with their account.

While the widget is enabled by default, users who wish to disable it can manually hide it by clicking the menu at the top right corner of the widget, and choosing 'hide Binance'.

"This integration enables millions of users across the globe to seamlessly trade and manage cryptocurrency, all without leaving the browser," said Binance on its own announcement.

The widget is one step forward after Brave launched its own cryptocurrency, the Basic Attention Token (BAT).

With BAT, each of its 13 million users is eligible to receive cryptocurrency that rewards them for, among other things, watching advertisements.

Brave the company went as far as saying that its privacy-oriented browser, combined with its blockchain-based digital advertising platform, "is reinventing the web for users, publishers, and advertisers."

Binance has been Brave’s choice ever since it announced the browser integration back on March 24.

But the company said that it has no plans for staying exclusive to Binance, saying that; “We plan on offering more widgets and will be sharing details soon,” said Corre.
