With VR and AR and their ability to create and superimpose new worlds, a unique look-and-feel is needed.
A font is those stylized characters for text information. And Google has just introduced what it calls the 'AR One Sans', which is a type family purposefully designed for AR environments and user interfaces.
What makes it unique, is its high-readability on user interface with busy backgrounds.
Google created the font based on its research and testing of various devices, ranging from high-end headsets to low-resolution smartphone-based devices.
The font boasts a low contrast and generous spacing, as well as robust shapes, to make it readable.

Over the years, a shift from traditional print to web and mobile platforms has led to a greater emphasis on legibility, adaptability and scalability in typography to ensure effective communication across the digital landscape.
With the modern days of technology, there is way too many devices to carter to.
As one of the biggest tech companies out there, Google has seen it all.
The company was born during the early internet, before thriving during the era of digital design.
With that experience, Google knows that the digital age necessitates different fonts to fit different screens and resolutions, as well as optimized for different purposes.
And AR One Sans here, is meant for AR applications, in order to help overcome some technical limitations of devices by providing a better reading experience.
One of the standout features of AR One Sans is its adaptability to negative polarity settings.
By having optical weight for both high and low resolution, AR One Sans is ideal for scenarios where light text needs to shine on a dark background.
Additionally, it's also primed to handle angular distortion gracefully for a crisp and clear AR experience.

Created by multidisciplinary designer Niteesh Yadav, the font is being introduced by Google Fonts as a crisp and clear free typeface.
While the font is specifically designed for AR applications, it's usage is not limited to it.
VR applications can also use it, and so do automobile dashboards, signage, mobile apps and websites.
AR Sans One ensures visual integrity across various platforms and devices, preventing any annoying text reflow issues.
As with other Google Fonts, AR One Sans is licensed under the Open Font License. This means that designers and developers can freely incorporate it into their projects, be they digital or print, commercial or personal.
