The Miss Delaware Teen USA competition is the pageant that selects the representative for the state of Delaware in the Miss Teen USA pageant.
Melissa King from Bethany Beach, was crowned Miss Delaware Teen USA in 2013. But she was later forced to resign her crown, after it was found that she had starred in an amateur pornography video that is shared on the internet.
This was realized when a porn website posted a sex video featuring a young woman who resembles and sounds like King.
When King was asked in an interview, she said that she was aware of the video, but denied that it was her.
"Absolutely not," she said. "It is not."
It all started when the GirlsdoPorn.com pornographic website posted a video of a woman who looks similar to King performing various sex acts.
The 5-minutes porn video clearly states that the woman in question is indeed the teen pageant winner, King.
Despite all evidence pointed at her, King denied appearing in the video.
Responding to this, the porn site posted a 30-second clip that clearly identifies the woman as Melissa King.
"I, Melissa King, am doing this scene of my own free will and I am of sound mind and body. I am not under the influence of drugs or any mind-altering substances," she said, indicating she is not being coerced.
"After the scene is filmed, I know I will have released all rights to the footage. Anything contained in the footage may be used however (inaudible) chooses. All other model agreements are stated in the model release. I willingly sign to do this scene."
In order to avoid further speculation and scandal, King decided to give up her crown.
It is said that King was paid $1,500 for the porn shoot.
The GirlsDoPorn.com website later said that King, who resigned her title and tiara, contacted them to shoot the video and was willing to film more scenes.
But the website decided to not sign a deal with King, simply because of her poor and cold sex performance.
It is said that the popular porn website, YouPorn.com, allegedly offered the fallen beauty pageant queen $250,000 to travel around the world promoting their website. The offer reportedly doesn't even require King to engage in any sex act on camera.
Melissa King was just like any teen her age, living with big dreams and full of energy.
It is said that she wanted to work for a fashion magazine, or reporting from the sidelines of an NFL game as a sports journalist.
At school, King was a cheerleader, and earned a scholarship for "outstanding achievement in athletics, community services, and academics" to help fund her college education. She was also an advocate for foster children.
She decided to compete in Miss Delaware Teen USA, knowing that she was already involved the industry for a few years, and was a two-time beauty pageant winner.
But unfortunately for the young woman, she also had problems.
And among them, is trying to make a name for herself, but eventually failed deliberately.
The teen took porn gig because, "I thought it would be fun and I needed the money."
King occasionally share some of her thoughts to social media platforms, including saying how "everyone wants happiness. No one wants pain. But you can't have the rainbow without a little rain."
It's worth noting that the message refer to Kim Kardashian's celebrity status that was at first, heavily fueled by her sex tape.
"God wouldn't give you something that you couldn't handle," wrote King in another time.
Melissa King had just turned 18-years-old when the sex video was shot.
In the wake of the the porn video scandal, Hailey Lawler has been named the new Miss Delaware Teen USA.
Lawler, who was runner-up to King, was surprised by this.
"I was in complete shock and just didn’t know what to say because, I wasn’t expecting it really at all," Lawler said about the news.
"We cannot wait to see what this year has in store for Hailey as she embarks on a most remarkable journey," said directors Deborah Miller and Cynthia Provost said in a statemen, after The Miss Universe Organization officially named Lawler Miss Delaware Teen USA
