To Keep Users Returning To Its Metaverse, Meta Introduces ‘Quests’ To Horizon Worlds

Meta Horizon Worlds

Meta, the company formerly known as Facebook, is the tech giant. To keep growing, it needs innovation, and innovation is what it's after.

When the company started boasting about the 'metaverse', founder and CEO Mark Zuckerberg was so confidence that he even changed the name of his company from Facebook to Meta, as he signified his company's shift in interest.

By picking up existing business that was popularized by Second Life, it gave a huge push, and created a new world where VR meets social media network.

Calling it the 'Horizon Worlds', is the company's vision, and bold move towards the metaverse.

But then, things started going south.

The hype diminished.

To keep users returning, the company introduced something that should have been there in the first place.

Calling it 'Quests,' it's a feature where Horizon Worlds gives users something in return for their returning visit to the metaverse.

Meta Horizon Worlds Quests

Quests challenges players to complete certain tasks to unlock rewards.

Within the Worlds Menu, Horizon Worlds players can see the Quests icon, where they can choose to complete tasks, like for example traveling to a new world, after which users will unlock the 'heart emote'.

Other Quests could be trying on a new clothing emote, or opening one’s backpack to change their emote.

With each Quest users complete, they will receive new rewards that they can show off to their friends.

To entice users, Meta plans to continuously update Quests with new challenges and rewards.

"Now everyone in Worlds can earn exclusive rewards for their avatar by completing quests," the company said in a blog post.

"Get started by simply traveling to any world to unlock a new heart emote. Claim rewards that you’ve unlocked from the quest panel and show them off to your friends. New quests will be added on a regular basis, along with new rewards. Keep checking the quest list—the more you play, the more you unlock!"

Meta Horizon Worlds Quick Actions

The goal of this feature, it to bring more users to Horizon Worlds.

As for its other updates, Meta has also introduced a quick actions menu to the metaverse product for a more-streamlined access to dictate one’s interactions with other users, such as muting, blocking or following them.

"You’ll be able to choose from a list of actions based on how well you know someone. For example, if you just met someone, you’ll be able to mute, block, or follow them," explained Meta.

"If you hover over the name tag of someone you’ve already muted, you’ll be able to unmute, block, or report them. And no matter what’s happening, you can press pause to take a breather and learn about what to do next."

Users can also report bugs by pressing the ‘Home Button’ on the right controller four times in quick succession.

Moreover, to make necessary quality improvements, Meta is temporarily disabling photo card access from the photo gallery.

These features are introduced alongside the release of its ‘v120’ update for the social virtual reality platform Horizon Worlds.
