The internet and open source software

Open source software became popular, and the internet has become of its major source of distribution. Started as an alternative to closed source software, open source grew faster when the tech industry need massive retooling of computing source code.

The term open source is directly linked to the internet. The concept of open source relies on reviews to find and eliminate bugs in the codes, a process which commercially developed and packaged programs do not utilize. When the internet became popular, programmers and developers can download, contribute and distribute to the product, creating an evolution for open source software.

With the internet, the process of eliminating bugs and improving the software happens at a much quicker rate because people can share information is a faster way that previously possible. And because much of the web's foundations are also created by open source software, its development rise even more significantly.
