Avid users of social media platforms must know how difficult it is to manage all of their posts, and all of their accounts.

Instagram is the most popular photo- and video-sharing social media app. And this time, the Meta-owned service has announced several new features that should help users with those.

"At Instagram, we want to share some of the work we've been doing to help people keep themselves and their accounts safer on the platform. Below you’ll learn more about," said Instagram.

First and foremost, there is the 'Security Checkup' tool that Instagram introduced back in 2021 for those whose accounts may have been hacked.

This time, Instagram is rolling out the feature to all users.

"Security Checkup guides people through the steps needed to secure their account including: checking login activity, reviewing profile information, confirming the accounts that share login information and updating account recovery contact information such as a phone number or email address," Instagram explained.

Then there is the 'Your Activity' tool.

A the end of 2021, Instagram started testing a way for users to see and manage all of their Instagram activities in one place. And this time, that feature is rolling out to everyone.

Then there is the feature that allows users to bulk manage (delete, archive) their content (posts, stories, videos and Reels) and their interactions (comments, likes, story sticker reactions, etc.)

"In addition, people will be able to sort and filter their content and interactions by date and search for past comments, likes and stories replies from specific date ranges, all in one place," added Instagram.

With these features, users don’t have to go through every post to take an action.

To access this 'Your activity', users can head to their Profile and tap on the menu in the upper right.

Next, is a way for users to lean on their friend's help to access their account.

For those users who lost access to their accounts, Instagram said that it is testing a way for users to ask their friends to confirm their identity, in order to regain access to their account.

And lastly, Instagram is introducing more ways for users to know "what’s happening with your content and your reports."

For example, users can access their Account Status section to know whether they've posted anything that is against Instagram's Community Guidelines.

"Here you will be able to see if any of your posts have been removed, and whether your account is at risk of being disabled. If you think we’ve made a mistake, you can appeal by hitting “Request a Review” directly from your Account Status," explained Instagram.

Then, for users who see something that shouldn't be on Instagram, such as bullying or offensive content, they can report the post to Instagram.

Instagram encourages users to report contents that violate its Community Guidelines, saying that reporting on Instagram is anonymous (unless related to intellectual property violations), and the person who posted the content will never know that the user reported it.

Reported content will appear in the Support Requests section.

"This feature shows the status of your submitted reports, as well as your report history," explained Instagram.

Users can visit this Support Requests, by going to their Profile, to then tap on the menu in the upper right corner, and tap on 'Settings'.
