Research on Creating a Logo

Logo is an image that is used to represent almost anything it is on. Businesses, organizations, communities, products, and everything else that has a name generally have a logo.

Logo is perspicuous glyph or symbolic, identifying mark that conveys origin, identity, or ownership. The main function is to elicit recognition. The object of a logo is to act as a mnemonic device and identifier, to communicate a desired thought or feeling, and to generate a desired emotional response. A thought-provoking can strengthen your brand image and corporate identity, giving you a psychological advantage over your competition.

Most people see logo as a sign on something that makes them recognizable. This is true. But what it really is, it is something that represent the company, business or anything it is on a whole. Describing it as an image that describe everything. An image that summarize everything is tries to represent. There are a lot 'behind the scene' creativity, efforts and time wasted on building a logo eventhough it is simple. But for it, that is its main purpose to be created in the first place: to put everything as simple as it possibly can.

The human mind is a sophisticated network that passes millions of informations from its external senses and also beyond it as an imaginary and internal feelings. It is something that no one can fully understand it yet. But one thing that science do understand, is that the human mind uses its senses as a gateway to the world to process the information. And with it, it remembers and try to recognize it in the future if he comes by a chance to see it again. This is the first thing a designer should come across.

Designers try to implement it with art, putting it to paper with lines and colors. When it comes to brand and public recognition, art as it is sophisticated, should be made simpler and simple as it is for any human mind to understand it at a slightest chance possible. Eventhough they do not understand it yet, at least they remember and able to recognize it the second time they see it. For example, the "M" logo on McDonalds. Almost everyone can see how simple it is and never quite understand how can people that designed it put their efforts and brains to create something so easily made, So easy that even yourself can create it. This is true. But when it comes to the first place of designing it, the designers is trying to put their efforts in creating something so recognizable even your children toddler can understand that the "M" logo means food. What makes this recognizable is it's simplicity. And simplicity always comes first when designing any logo.

Another approach a designer should do is understanding what the company, business, product is before creating an art so called logo. Other than that, designers should also know what the company or the business aim, visions, missions, history, purpose and anything else about them before implementing it on paper. There are a lot of things to process before a good logo really can be an arrow head in the world of commercials as it should convey the essence of your company and your brand in a single glance.

Anyone can make a logo. But only those who put their minds and efforts to summarize a whole company or business into a small piece of art can make a great logo. And a great logo is simple, so simple that most people do not understand how difficult it is to create in the first place.
