The internet and Leonardo DiCaprio's Oscar

At the 2016 Academy Awards, Leonardo DiCaprio won the Best Actor on Oscar for his role in The Revenant. After six nominations over the course of 23 years, the actor and environmentalist finally won his first trophy. While this could be the moment of his life at the peak of his career, he wasn't the only one waiting for it to happen.

The internet and social media networks anticipated the moment since the movie came to release. Speculations predicted he will finally win his first ever trophy. When he did, the internet was flooded with greets to congratulate the star with a slew of memes and plenty of "King of the world" jokes. Fellow actors, stars and many celebrities from numerous countries also congratulated him.

Before that, when DiCaprio reunited and cuddled up with his Titanic co-star and long-time friend Kate Winslet on the red carpet, the "Jack and Rose" couple stole the internet's spotlight for a moment.
