3.5 million AdultFriendFinder user accounts breached

30/04/2015

AdultFriendFinder, the internet hook-up destination, boasts more than 60 million members worldwide. The site has been hacked and 3.5 million user accounts have been compromised

The problem first surfaced when IT consultant and Darknet researcher known as Teksquisite discovered the files shared on a forum.

The hacker claiming responsibility for the breach said that they're from Thailand. And because they said that they're out of reach of U.S. laws, and are confident that they can bribe local enforcement, they continued to post AdultFriendFinder records from time to time.

The hackers claimed that they breached the adult site to sought revenge because a friend of theirs was owed money. Initially they say that it was $247,938.28, but later they posted a $100,000 ransom demand to the forum in order to prevent further leaks.

There were 3,528,458 records spanning across 14 different CSV files. They are database dump with 27 fields in total, which include: IP address, email, handle, country, state, zip code, language, sex, race, birth date and more.

In a statement, AdultFriendFinder confirmed the incident, stating that they've hired FireEye to perform a full investigation.
