'iTest' From Samsung Helps Apple Users Experience Android On Their iPhones

The smartphone industry is an unforgiving warzone. It's a prime example of the modern "survival of the fittest" phrase.

It's where a slew competes, but a few can survive,. Not many can earn a pleasant experience worth telling. And among the few that do shine brighter than others, include Samsung and Apple. The tech titans ruled the relentless war between Android and iOS.

When one boasts flexibility and Google's abilities, the other is backed by Apple's ecosystem that is more polished and privacy-focused that its counterpart.

Each operating system has advantages. Samsung as the manufacturer of popular Android devices, knows this very well. Because the South Korean company is "good buddies" with Google, Samsung introduces 'iTest', where iPhone users can get "a little taste of Samsung, without changing phones."

iTest is simply a web app, which allows iPhone users to experience Android, through Samsung's interface.

This allows iPhone to easily “sample the other side,” in order for them to be convinced, and to hopefully switch.

At least initially, Samsung is advertising the iTest experience in New Zealand.

To experience this iTest, users of iPhones can navigate to iTest.nz website on their iPhone, and follow the instructions to add it as a web app on their home screen.

After adding iTest to the home screen, tapping on the icon will launch an interactive interface that resembles a modern Galaxy smartphone’s home screen. The simulated home screen gives users the access to several apps and settings options, through Samsung's own One UI experience.

Besides a handful of apps, including Phone, Messages, Camera, Settings, Galaxy Store, Gallery, Galaxy Wearable, Galaxy Themes, Samsung Health and more, the web app also has a weather widget, the Google Search bar, and some others.

Users can try the provided apps to a certain extent, and feel how Android is through Samsung's Android skin.

The iTest web app can even simulate phone calls and text messages, in order to highlight some of the less obvious features.

There is also a camera tutorial from plumber and photographer Logan Dodds, who walks through all of the available photography options.

You’re about to get a little taste of Samsung, without changing phones. We can’t replicate every function, but you should quickly see that there’s nothing daunting about switching to the other side.

Don’t worry, all the apps you love are available. Because let’s be honest, most of them are Google products and we’re good buddies with those guys.

With iTest, Samsung is increasing its efforts to win over iPhone customers.

This effort by the South Korean conglomerate, comes after Apple said in January, that the iPhone 12 series has spurred an increase in smartphone users switching from Android to iPhone.

With that in mind, Samsung is trying to fight back.

Samsung is one of the very few smartphone manufacturers capable of going face-to-face against Apple. And with iTest, the company is simply ramping up its attempts to convert iPhone users to Galaxy owners.
