Google Desktop Search Adds Shopping Product Cards Buttons With Pop-Up Details

In the modern days of the internet, people use search engines to look for practically anything.

One of which, is comparing prices. Google as the largest and the most popular search engine, wants to give users who are looking to buy something, another way to shop online directly from its search results pages.

Here, to create a seamless integration between its search engine and shopping sites, Google has added buttons to the card-style product listing ad on the right of its desktop web search results interface.

Clicking on the 'details', 'reviews' or 'stores' button will pop up details about the searched product.

The feature is somehow similar to what Google uses on its mobile search, but the interface is new and different for desktop search.

Here is how it looks like:

Google

On the right-hand side of the screen, users can see listings of the product being sold on different vendors. Giving details upfront, should save users a few clicks before getting to their intention.

And here is the pop up that shows when clicking on the buttons.

Google

This is like a lite version of Google Shopping, which allows users to search for products on online shopping websites and compare prices between different vendors.

Originally, the Google Shopping service listed prices submitted by the sellers, and was monetized through AdWords advertising like other Google services.

But later, with the service's rebranding, the service was modified to emphasize integration with Google Search, where listings from sites could appear alongside web search results.

And by having these shopping product cards buttons approach, Google users are having a new way to find products, and buy them, directly within Google Shopping results.

For e-commerce websites, the change can impact their sales in a good way. They can see their analytics to know whether they have more incoming referrals from Google or a change in revenue coming from the search engine.

Initially, the feature is launched to a number of people. It's expected to see a broad launch in later times.
