A Leaked UFO Sighting Went Viral, And Confirmed By The U.S. Government

Strange sighting is nothing new. After all, the world is big, and there are many things that humans have yet to discover, learn, or understand.

And UFOs (Unidentified Flying Objects) are among them.

In human history, there has been numerous UFOs sightings, depicting objects flying that dart in unexplained manners, sometimes with trajectory that cannot be replicated using man-made machines. Those UFOs can sometime appear out of nowhere, and disappear almost instantly.

Another way of saying it, a UFO is a flying object that is unidentified, looks like no known aircraft used by the U.S. or any other countries, doesn't have exhaust plume or any visible engine, and can move in unpredictable ways that defy human's understanding of physics.

Since UFOs are still shrouded in mystery, as there are more questions than answers about the unexplained incidents, UFO sightings have been debated more than often.

And the U.S. for its part, has for years largely ignored reports of mysterious flying objects seen moving through the sky.

While humankind has yet to understand what UFOs really are, or whether they are real, this time, the U.S. seems to start acknowledging that it does know a thing or two about UFOs.

In a leaked U.S. Navy video, an unidentified flying object is shown flying and disappearing into the water off California.

The video which was recorded back in July 2019 by Navy aircraft using the USS Omaha's Combat Information Center, the seemingly spherical object is seen flying above the water for a few minutes before vanishing.

"It splashed," military personnel can be heard saying in the video.

No wreckage or evidence of the flying object was ever recovered from the water.

The video was obtained by documentary filmmaker Jeremy Corbell.

Corbell shared the footage on social media, days before a 60 Minutes report was aired, that included interviews with several former Navy pilots who described their personal encounters with UFOs.

60 Minutes is one of the oldest and most-watched newsmagazine. In each of its hourlong episode, it tells real stories about America's most prevalent issues.

It was later revealed that a similar incident also occurred in San Diego in 2004.

Following the leak, in what the Pentagon refers to as Unidentified Aerial Phenomena (UAP), the U.S. government start to acknowledge that sightings are real, by confirming the authenticity of the leaked photos and video.

The U.S. government assesses that some UFOs, which are those that aren't misidentified weather phenomena, aircraft, or balloons, are real.

The government said that they are so real that in fact, the Pentagon’s Inspector General is investigating the Navy-led investigation into UFOs. The investigation-of-the-investigation is designed to ensure that more information is being collected about the subject.

The U.S. Department of Defense confirmed that the clip was recorded by Navy personnel, and said it is being reviewed by the Pentagon's UAP Task Force, a panel established in 2020 to "gain insight" into the "nature and origins" of such objects.

The Office of the Director of National Intelligence and other agencies are also scheduled to deliver unclassified reports on UFOs to Congress, and the Department of Defense's watchdog is said to also set to examine how the Pentagon has handled reports of UFOs.

"The Department of Defense and the military departments take any incursions by unauthorized aircraft into our training ranges or designated airspace very seriously and examine each report. This includes examinations of incursions that are initially reported as UAP when the observer cannot immediately identify what he or she is observing," the statement said.

The Navy acknowledged the accuracy of the videos, but didn't make it public after a while later.

That, "in order to clear up any misconceptions by the public on whether or not the footage that has been circulating was real, or whether or not there is more to the videos," Pentagon spokesperson Sue Gough said at the time.

"After a thorough review, the department has determined that the authorized release of these unclassified videos does not reveal any sensitive capabilities or systems," continued Gough, "and does not impinge on any subsequent investigations of military air space incursions by unidentified aerial phenomena."

Luis Elizondo, former head of a classified Department of Defense program to research potential UFOs, said back in 2017 that he personally believes "there is very compelling evidence that we may not be alone."

"These aircraft - we'll call them aircraft - are displaying characteristics that are not currently within the US inventory nor in any foreign inventory that we are aware of."

Elizondo, a senior official who led the Pentagon’s UFO research program under President Obama and during the start of Donald Trump’s presidency, suggests that the government’s investigation of UFOs wasn’t been sufficiently resourced, considering the nature of the subject.

Because of this, Elizondo said that any unknown object flying in the U.S. airspace unidentified should be considered a national security risk.

“I’m not telling you that it doesn’t sound wacky,” Elizondo said. “What I’m telling you is it’s real. The question is, what is it? What are its intentions? What are its capabilities?”

Sometimes, there are simple explanations for the objects, he said; but sometimes, there aren’t.

What most concerns him are those objects are not drones, balloons or some space junk.

Those objects show signs of novel technology that is unknown to humans, and the U.S. should be worried.
