It's extremely common for brands to partner with celebrities or influencers in order to market their products and expand their reach.
To make a successful campaign, the people they partner with should be related to the consumers the brands are targeting, in order for the target consumers to relate.
Budweiser is an American-style pale lager. As a large selling beer company in the United States, it has a long list of marketing campaigns and partners.
And this time, the brand has partnered activist Dylan Mulvaney, a transgender celebrity who has documented her transition from male to female in a viral “Days of Girlhood” TikTok series.
And in a post, she was jokingly clueless about March Madness and revealed that she'd received a special personalized Bud Light can with her face on it to commemorate 365 days since she began her gender transition.
Sooner than later, transphobic right-wingers were furious.
Among those who went up against the Bud drink sponsorship, is Robert James Ritchie.
Known professionally as Kid Rock, the American singer, songwriter and rapper, believes that the beer itself has become a symbol of transgenders' rights.
And to show what he meant, he recorded a video of himself weeping about it, before blowing a few cans of Bud Light beers.
Wearing a baseball cap backwards which read MAGA (Make America Great Again), the slogan of former U.S. President Donald Trump, Rock turned to a camera with his eyes showing pain of disbelief, saying his feeling of being "frisky," before announcing that he had a message that he wanted to make "as clear and concise as possible."
He then aimed his MP5 submachine gun at a display of Bud Light 12-packs which had been placed on top of a table by a river, and pulled the trigger to fire a number of rounds, exploding some.
"Fuck Bud Light, and fuck Anheuser-Busch," he said while flipping off the camera.
Rock also mentioning the brewer that makes Budweiser by name, and hinted at the possibility of a boycott.
What Rock did was what he thought is the patriotic American thing to do.
Besides Rock, another prominent figure is Sebastian Gorka, formerly Deputy Assistant to President Trump. In a tweet, he shared a video of himself dropping an entire six-pack of full beer bottles in the trash.
Most others however, got into the trend by pouring Bud Lights down the drain or taking them out with the trash.
It's worth noting though, that the outrage mostly came from older men who focused on their beer brand loyalty, whereas youngers from far-right influencers were more into the gender messaging.
For example, Candace Owens, an American conservative author, talk show host, political commentator, and producer, called Mulvaney’s ad an instance of “woman-face” and said it promoted a stereotype of women as stupid.
Christian conservative YouTuber Vince Dao, who argued that Bud Light is "loaded with estrogen" and is "designed to give you man-boobs."
In short, Rock, as well as some other conservatives, are desperately trying to convince themselves, and the world, that Anheuser-Busch should go bankrupt for partnering with trans TikTok star Mulvaney.

In response to Kid Rock's violence video, Anheuser-Busch has responded to the backlash by releasing a statement:
"From time to time, we produce unique commemorative cans for fans and for brand influencers, like Dylan Mulvaney. This commemorative can was a gift to celebrate a personal milestone and is not for sale to the general public."
Budweiser, which is marketed in the U.S. under the name "Bud," has used marketing campaigns and partners that range from "The Beer of Kings" slogan to the Superman-esque advertising character of Bud Man, a canine mascot.
It also inked NFL licensing agreement, TV ads, and many more.
It also sponsored a lot of events and sports, including NASCAR and the BMW Williams Formula One team.
In 2020, it even sent personalized bottles of beer to every goalkeeper who Lionel Messi had scored against.
While there are many who are with Rock, there are others that are against him.
In particular, those people come the families of victims of school shootings in the U.S.. They mocked Rock because some of the attackers who mercilessly killed children and school staff members were using similar submachine guns to the one Rock was using to shoot the beer cans.
