Green Day Lead Singer Pleaded On Social Media, Asking Fans To Help Him Find His Missing Car

"My car was STOLEN," said Billie Joe Armstrong, the front man and lead vocalist for the punk rock band Green Day.

The youngest son of a father who was a jazz musician and truck driver and a mother who was a waitress, hoped that fans can help him recover his missing 1962 Chevrolet Nova, which was stolen in one weekend at Costa Mesa, California.

He posted on his social media accounts, pleaded and begged anyone with the information about the vehicle's whereabout to contact the local police.

"This car is near and dear to all our hearts and has been in the GD family for over 30 years. Please send any sighting, tips or info to the Costa Mesa police," the rock star added.

In addition to the car itself which he considered priceless, the car also has two of his electric guitars and an amplifier inside it.

Along with the plea for assistance, Billie Joe also shared a number of photos of the classic white two-door car with the word 'STOLEN' written across it.

Armstrong is known as a collector of classic cars.

In 2019 for example, he once hosted a conversation with singer Billie Eilish in his graffiti-tagged 1963 Ford Falcon. Also, he previously put his 1963 Chevy Nova SS convertible, similar to the car that was stolen, up for auction along with an autographed guitar in 2018.

Billie Joe Armstrong career as a punk rock musician can be traced back to the year 1987, when Armstrong at the age of 15, formed a band called Sweet Children with his childhood friend Mike Dirnt.

After performing in front of the public for several times, and following a number of band members coming and going, the band changed its name to Green Day in April 1989.

The name was chosen because of the members' fondness for marijuana.

Green Day was a huge success back in 1990s, having achieved mainstream success with the release of their third LP, Dookie, in 1994.

Since then, the band remained as one of the most popular rock bands of the 1990s and 2000s, with more than 60 million records sold worldwide.

A few days later, the car was found in El Modena, an unincorporated area of Orange County, a few blocks away from where it was stolen.

Earlier, Armstrong offered to pay bail for the thieves if they got caught returning it.

"To the people that stole it, the one thing is, like, I don’t want anyone to go to jail. That sucks, you know," he said. "Just drop it off. Or, you know, and if you do get caught, I’ll bail you out. I just want my car back."

Following the recovery, Armstrong thanked his fans on Instagram for their help.

"Joy ride? Maybe.. who knows. We live in desperate times," Armstrong posted to Instagram about the find. "Thank God it’s all in one piece. No damage. Thank you, thank you to everyone that searched for my Chevy."

According to the police, the guitars and the amplifier were not found.

The car, including the items, are estimated to worth around $48,000.
