According the Guinness World Records in a web page, to break its record, attempts should fulfill all the following criteria:
- Measurable.
- Breakable.
- Standardisable.
- Verifiable.
- Based on one variable.
- The best in the world.
"We assess all new record titles against our values of integrity, respect, inclusiveness and passion. As such, we have a number of internal policies that all records must adhere to," the post said.
And here, Samsung's unboxing event checked all the above criteria.
Previous holder of similar attempt, was Xiaomi.
The Chinese phonemaker was the holder since 2019, with a record of 703 people unboxing its products simultaneously. Samsung took the title by almost tripling Xiaomi’s record.
According to Aditya Babbar, Senior Director and Head of Product Marketing at Samsung India:
"With #EpicUnboxing we have officially entered the Guinness World Records and we are delighted that we could celebrate this epic achievement with our fans."

Swapnil Dangarikar, the Official Adjudicator at Guinness World Records added:
"This fabulous event was organised across 19 venues and the delighted participants got their phone and became part of a record."
"A never been done before attempt, I congratulate Samsung on becoming Officially Amazing!"
This achievement should help Samsung, at least since the company has received numerous backlash.
Previously, it was revealed that Samsung Galaxy's source code has been stolen by hackers, and that Samsung throttled the performance of Galaxy S22 series.
