The Rise Of Female 'Carnivore Diet' Influencers: Universalizing The High-Protein Appeal

Humans are omnivores, and that they have digestive systems that the combine elements of both herbivores and carnivores, and this adaptability allows them to derive nutrients from a wide range of food sources.

As a result of this, humans have a diverse palate, and are capable of munching on everything from fruits and veggies to meats and even some insects.

They have a whole buffet of options available to satisfy their hunger cravings.

But in the society, there are people who choose to be have plant-based diets.

And this time, on social media, an increasing number of influencers are promoting their carnivore diet, and that the trend is rapidly growing in popularity.

On TikTok alone, searches for the term "carnivore diet" have increased by 79% between 2023 and 2024.

And things have become more diverse.

In the past, the carnivore diet has primarily been done and promoted by male, largely conservative figures, and some influencers.

This time, there is a sharp increase in female influencers promoting the diet.

And what makes the trend unique, many of these influencers are beautiful, slender young women.

These attractive women show how they can eat pretty much any meat product they can find, ranging from ground beef to back ribs and short ribs, sirloin, tenderloin, to ribeye, picanha, and also oysters, mussels, fish products, shrimps, eggs, cheese, chicken, pork, bacon, lamb, bison, and more.

Cooked or raw or sashimi, it doesn't matter. But many of them don't really eat processed meat that much, like corned beef, meatballs or sausages.

They eat these high-protein animal products with jerky, sauerkraut, chimichurri, ghee, bone marrow, beef tallow, gruyere, and more.

They claim that they eat this all day everyday, from breakfast to lunch to dinner.

Some of these influencers even snack on butter, as they bite out on giant sticks of butter, as if they were a freshly peeled bananas.

As influencers these people promote their diet, and said that they were struggling with eating disorder before adopting the high-protein, high-fat diet.

And by eating the animal products on a daily basis, the long-term effect, according to them, is that they have improved glow to their skin, better mental wellness and more.

There are those in the community who claim that the diet improves their period, and also make their sex life a lot better.

There are also people who said that the diet has helped them cure cancer.

In all, the trend of having female influencers promoting the carnivore diet is universalizing its appeal.

While male carnivore influencers tend to focus on getting “ripped” and maximizing their masculinity, the trend is very different among female influencers, with them primarily focusing on weight loss referring it to being similar to the keto diet, improved skin conditions, and cure to autoimmune disorders.

It's worth noting though, that "carnivorism" here encompasses a pretty wide spectrum.

Some will primarily eat meat but will supplement with other foods, while others, stick to animal-based products, and will abstain from other foods in general.

It's worth noting that medically proven, high-protein diets do have benefits, like satiety, improved muscle growth and repair, weight management, an blood sugar control, but experts also said that high protein in the blood can also put strain on the kidneys, create nutrient imbalance, and increased risk of some diseases.

Many of the influencers are still young and healthy, meaning that their body could still digest all those high-protein food, and properly process all they consume.

As people get older, a lot of people would experience age-related changes, including a decline in dental health, and chewing ability.

They may also have declined gastrointestinal health, which prevent them from properly digesting meat.

It's also worth noting that these influencers aren't focused on creating videos about mukbang. Instead, they're more into promoting a lifestyle.
