They can refine through natural conversation, drop inline comments, make direct edits to text or elements, or use custom sliders that adjust spacing, colors, typography, and other variables in real time. One of the more sophisticated touches is its ability to ingest a team's existing design files and codebase, automatically infer a consistent design system, and apply it across every new asset.

Finished designs can be exported as PDF or PPTX, sent straight to Canva, saved as standalone HTML, or handed off directly to Claude Code to begin turning the mockup into functional software.

A demonstration video released alongside the announcement shows a meditation app prototype materializing on screen, complete with live theme switches, dark mode toggles, and typography adjustments applied in seconds. The clip cycles through dozens of examples: marketing collateral, 3D scenes, investor decks, highlighting how quickly rough concepts become tangible.

To have Claude fine-tune the result, users can also comment on specific design elements in the preview, and let Claude Design goes a bit further by letting them draw on designs and edit some elements directly (such as background colors and fonts).

But the most interesting option here is to have the model generate sliders and options they would like to see to tweak the design in real-time without having to ask Claude for changes.

This launch sits at the intersection of two broader trends.

First, vision capabilities in frontier models have matured enough to make visual creation conversational rather than pixel-pushing.
