Google became an ICANN-accredited registrar in 2005. And to venture forward, Google is building a domain registration service called Google Domains. The product is announced as an invite-only beta.

According to the company's research, 55 percent of small businesses still don't have a website. Since a domains act as website's foundation, Google decided that it can help them with their online presence. Google Domains that won't include hosting, is partnering with Squarespace, Wix, Weebly and Shopify.

Google Domains uses the company’s own DNS servers.
