Who just don't love vacations? They're great, and can be the best way to loosen up some knots after a long straight routine. While practically everyone needs a vacation once in a while, the problem for most people is to plan for one.
While vacation should be something fun, people wanting to go to a vacation, and knowing what to do once the vacation starts, can turn what's supposed to be fun into a lot of work. Here, the tech giant Google wants to make things easier with its Trip app.
Available on Android and iOS, Trip is basically a giant travel guide and itinerary maker for trips. Google provides various locations around the world from a sample of 'top 200'. Each include popular sights and attractions that have interested other travelers.
Users just need to tell the app where they want to go, download the guide for offline use, and start planning.
The app can also pull information like flights and reservations straight from users' Gmail.

While Google has information to populate the app, users can also customize their itineraries as well by tapping the '+' button on 'day plan' to select attractions from a map themselves. Trip can also automatically add nearby sights to users if they want. Furthermore, users can also tell the app what time of the day they're free to wander.
The Trip app will then number the locations chosen so the user can have everything managed and organized.
"Everyone has different interests and time constraints. No matter how popular an itinerary is, there's no one-size-fits-all solution for the perfect day or the perfect trip. Google Trips can help you build your day around places you already know you want to visit," said Stefan Frank, Google's Product Manager, in a blog post announcing the app on September 19th, 2016.

"Whether you're juggling work, school, family, or just the demands of daily life, everyone needs a little break and a new adventure sometimes," said Frank.
For each trip users are creating, it's divided into several sections. For example: 'Getting around' provides information about local transportation, rental options and so forth. The 'Things to do' shows the popular locations that are tailored based on suggestions. There is also a selection called 'Farther away' which could come in handy to travelers that want to wander a bit further than their previous plans.
Other key feature include: reservations, things to do, food & drink, and more.
People can get recommendations from friends, colleagues, family members or professional travel guides as well as online reviews. But the thing is, getting all that information and squeezing them down into one place can be stressful. This is true, especially to those want to visit a place they've never been before. What's worse, not everyone is loyal on data plans, and going roaming abroad can increase data plans beyond planning.
This is where Google's Trip app should come in handy. "We wanted to reduce the hassle and help travelers enjoy their hard-earned vacations."
