People need more than a day to do something. The same goes with users of Instagram's Stories.
Starting on November 7th, 2017, users can add photos and videos to their story, even if they took them more than 24 hours ago.
Just like how they normally would, users just need to swipe up from the camera to open the camera roll, or just tap on the gallery button. With their camera roll open, they can select a photo or video that is more than 24 hours old. Then they will automatically see a new sticker that helps them add context for when it was taken.
And just like any other stickers, users can rotate or resize it from their Story before sharing it.
Users can also delete the sticker so nobody will know that the picture/video was taken a long time ago.

The disappearing story formats, was pioneered by Snapchat. Following someone's Story feels like following someone's day in real time. But since so many people were finding ways around the 24-hour limit, Instagram has decided to get rid of the time restraint altogether.
And this is where the update that is available as part of Instagram version 22 for iOS and version 18 on Android, can bring back old memories to Stories.
For Instagram, this is a huge step forward in differentiating itself from Snapchat, which only allowed users to post older images with a white border that reveals the time and date they were taken.
In short, it's like Instagram in giving what people really want: the ability to curate what the world sees, with a candid manner.
