A Redesigned Telegram With Download Manager, Live Streaming Support, And More

Telegram

Messaging is much more than just "messaging." In the modern days of tech and mobile, and privacy, communication through apps is complex.

Telegram is a privacy-focused messaging app. As a cross-platform app, the service has become better and better with each coming updates. And this time, things just go up another notch, with the introduction of various new features.

"Today's update brings tools to help you control your downloads, swiftly share documents, re-arrange media albums before sending, turn your channel into a TV station, and more," said Telegram in its blog post.

The update also beings a number of redesigns and visual changes on both Android and iOS.

First of, is the Download Manager feature.

What this feature does, is allowing users to send files of any type up to 2 GB each and access them from any device - with unlimited cloud storage.

While the files are actively downloading, Telegram introduces a new icon to appear in the Search bar.

Users can tap on the icon, or go to the 'Downloads' tab in Search to view and manage the downloads.

The next feature, is a new attachment menu.

When users send multiple photos or videos, users are shown a preview of how the album would look like in the chat when it is sent.

To make this possible, Telegram allows users to rearrange or remove selected media through its interface.

For iOS users, the attachment menu has been redesigned to look and function like Telegram on Android.

The update has also redesigned the in-app camera option, so it is integrated into the gallery, with a new navigation bar for quick access.

Also, the Files tab has been redesigned to show recently sent files, and lets users search for them by name.

And as for users on Android, the interface has been redesigned to have a subtle transparent effect.

This is similar to that on Telegram on iOS.

In Night Mode, the redesign allows chat backgrounds, stickers and media to shine through as users scroll.

Then, there is a redesigned login flow, where Telegram introduces new animations.

After that, the update also introduces phone number links.

Previously, Telegram allows users to create a unique @username from the Settings page. This allows them to have others contact them via Search, or from their t.me/username without sharing their phone number.

This time, Telegram updates to also allow users to use their phone number instead of their username.

Next, is Telegram in allowing streaming with other apps.

For a while, groups and channels support live video broadcast with unlimited viewers.

Realizing that professional bloggers and journalists are increasingly using Telegram to live stream, Telegram is updating to allow users to broadcast from streaming tools like OBS Studio and XSplit Broadcaster.

Another way of saying it, Telegram is allowing users to turn their Telegram channel into a professional TV Station.

Lastly, Telegram has redesigned to t.me pages.

The redesign allows anyone to preview profiles, posts or entire public channels in their browser – even if they haven’t signed up for Telegram yet.

"These web previews have a new look, adding chat backgrounds and design elements from the fully-featured Telegram Web client," explained Telegram on its post.
