Celebrating Firefox's 10th birthday, Mozilla Foundation launched MozVR project to help developers to embrace virtual reality on the web.

Earlier, Oculus-compatible version of Firefox was released. Its an open-source alternative to the a cross-platform game engine Unity 3D. While its not a full virtual world platform such as OpenSim, it's supporting some 3D features, WebGL and HTML5. And by supporting Oculus, it allows 3D scenes to be viewed side-by-side in a stereoscopic format.

When announcing the project, Mozilla said that MozVR also has an online community that will help developers to share their 3D experiences, tools and tutorials.

At the moment of its introduction, MozVR only supports Oculus Rift. Mozilla is planning to make it work on more devices in moments to come.
