Before the internet, long before social media platforms came into play, during the time cassettes were still sold on brick-and-mortar shops, and music television channels thrive by playing music videos, there was Spice Girls.
During the pre-internet world, in 1994, five sassy girls from the UK took the world by storm, with their catchy tunes, girl power message, and unique personalities.
With their "girl power" mantra, Mel B ("Scary Spice"); Melanie C ("Sporty Spice"); Emma Bunton ("Baby Spice"); Geri Halliwell ("Ginger Spice"); and Victoria Beckham ("Posh Spice") redefined the girl-group concept by targeting a young female fanbase.
They were the leaders in the teen pop resurgence of the 1990s, and they were pop culture icons of the decade.
Then, they went on separate ways.
From Geri Halliwell's abrupt departure, to how their immense fame put the girls into huge strain, including Victoria Beckham who began receiving significant attention outside the band, creating a shift in focus.
With the girls having their own unique characters, voice and fans, the exhaustion they experienced while together in the band fueled their desire for solo pursuits.
Regardless, they remain friends.
For the sake of the their time they spent together, and for their fans, they remain in touch, and were on and off.
Because of this, having them all together in one place, at the same time, is considered an extremely rare occasion.
This is what exactly happened during Victoria Beckham's 50th birthday.
At the time, all the girls have again reunited for a rare performance featuring all five members, where they sand their classic hit Stop.
They also performed using the band's signature choreography from the single.
During a party held at Oswald’s, a private members’ club in London, high-profile celebrities were present.
Among the crowd, include the likes of Tom Cruise, Salma Hayek, Eva Longoria and Gordon Ramsay.
The news was delivered by Victoria, and also her husband, David Beckham, who posted photos and a video to Instagram on their respective accounts.
"I mean come on," said the 48-year-old former footballer captioned the video.
Victoria responded in the comments, writing: "Best night ever! Happy Birthday to me! I love you all so much!"
The Spice Girls rose to fame in a different era of music videos compared to the more modern standards.
In their era, the time when music videos were targeted towards teens, the trend had videos to have catchy choreography, elaborate sets, and colorful costumes. There was emphasis on fun, girl power, and individuality, which aligned perfectly with the Spice Girls' image.
While some sensuality might have been present, it wasn't the main focus.
The band managed to reach success and make impact, without ever relying on nudity or suggestive content.
They carved their own path with catchy tunes, strong personalities, and a message that resonated with a wide audience.
Before this, the Spice Girls have been reunited a few times since going their separate ways after the 2006 NBA All-Star Game performance, but many on the very scarce occasions, not all of the members were present.
In 2012 London Olympics Closing Ceremony, Victoria Beckham did not participate, but the remaining four Spice Girls performed. In 2016, at Rio Olympics Closing Ceremony, Victoria Beckham was again absent. In 2019 Spice World tour, Victoria was nowhere to be seen.
But in 2013, during Beyonce's Super Bowl XLVII Halftime Show, all of the girls were present.
And in 2018's Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival, all five Spice Girls headlined a reunion tour, marking their first full-length performances together in over a decade.
