The internet is where the world's chatter takes place, connecting people across continents.
Among the many methods of communication it introduces, images and videos stand out, some going viral for countless reasons: from humor and creativity to shock value or emotional impact, there is no end to what imagery or clips can provide.
Netflix is one of the leading streaming platforms.
After mastering the art of offering an almost endless list of titles to stream, it is now venturing further into visual storytelling.
Now, Netflix is rolling out a new feature that could help its shows become viral obsessions even more quickly. The company announced that subscribers can turn their favorite moments from an episode or movie into clips they can save and share with friends.
According to Netflix in a post on its website.
This way, its series, documentaries, and short clips can be part (if not spark) cultural phenomena, dominating online conversations and inspiring countless memes, reactions, and discussions across social media platforms.
Alongside launching Wednesday Season 2, Part 2, the feature allows subscribers of the show, or any Netflix title, to save their favorite scenes from that title to watch again later, or share on their most-used social media platform.
This new update from Netflix is an evolution of the Moments feature, which was launched in October 2024.
To create a clip, users can tap anywhere on the screen while watching a show or movie, and tap on the 'Clip' button. They can then drag the start and end points of their chosen clip to start and end at whichever moments they choose.
"Now you’ll see the option to adjust where the scene ends, so you can make the clip as long or as short as you like," added Netflix.
To a lot of users, this can be a great and easy way to show off the scenes in a title they find most pivotal, and share them to the internet.
Initially, the clips feature can only be used on mobile devices.
Once a clip is created, users will find it in the 'My Netflix' section of the streamer’s app. From there, they can share it on Instagram, Snapchat, X, or other platforms.
Others who interact with the post, will be taken to that particular scene within the Netflix app.
