The AI industry barely made ripples outside its realm, and caught the interest of people other than enthusiasts and developers alike.
But since OpenAI introduced ChatGPT, the company created a hype about generative AI, that pretty much all tech companies out there, big and small, wouldn't want to miss. And Anthropic is one of the handful of AI developers that can go neck-and-neck with OpenAI.
Despite being an underdog, Anthropic managed to sank its teeth deep into the competition.
In fact, the company claims that its Claude 3 product outperforms ChatGPT's GPT-4 in its own game.
And this time, two months after debuting Claude on iOS, Anthropic is introducing a dedicated Claude app for Android.
The Android app is making its appearance on Google Play Store, where Anthropic is launching it for free.

This Claude Android app works just like Claude on iOS and the web, meaning that users have access to:
- Multi-platform support: Pick up and continue conversations with Claude across web, iOS, and Android apps.
- Vision capabilities: Take new pictures or upload files for real-time image analysis.
- Multilingual processing: Real-time language translation to help communicate or translate aspects of the world around you.
- Advanced reasoning: Claude can help you tackle complex problems, like analyzing contracts while traveling or conducting market research to prepare for a meeting.
Anthropic explains that Claude allows users to "get help on a variety of tasks whenever inspiration strikes—on everything from writing to analysis to math."
"Use Claude for work or for fun. Whether you're drafting a business proposal between meetings, translating menus while traveling, brainstorming gift ideas while shopping, or composing a speech while waiting for a flight, Claude is ready to assist you," Anthropic said in the announcement.
The Claude app for Android is designed with a simple UI that is nearly identical to the iOS app.
It's worth noting that while using Claude is free, users who need more usage have to purchase the Pro plan.
Regardless of the plan, Claude is designed to be reliable, accurate, and helpful.
It's also worth noting that in order to compete directly with ChatGPT, Anthropic releases the app with its most powerful model, the Claude 3.5 Sonnet.
