While the internet has been known to billions of people around the world, not everyone is that tech-savvy. Aside from those billion, there are also new generations of billions that are coming to the internet.
To meet these newcomers of the web, Google is launching a dedicated mobile search experience for them, with an app called 'Google Go'. The lightweight app that is part of Android Go platform, not only allows users to search the web, but also see what's trending around them, offering shortcuts to things like weather, popular images, GIFs and also YouTube videos.
The goal for Google Go, is making search experience to go beyond a blank search box Google has been known for.
By helping users see what the web has to give, first timers can discover the length of new possibilities and dive deeper into the web, without having to know how to use Google Search.
In addition to those, Google Go also borrows Google Search's feature, like displaying search results as users are typing.
Go does this providing suggestions based on users' query input. So for example a user is typing "travelling", Go will surface buttons that correspond to that keyword. This will ensure that newcomers of the web will get results, and can refine their query to get the search results they want, without having to be a seasoned search engine users.

What's more, Go also houses a row of shortcuts where users can go to their favorite online services, including to apps for social media networks, shopping, entertainment, news, banking, and more.
The feature is localized, so users will see links to services that are popular in their country and area.
Google Go also supports a second language, which allows users to switch their query and results to that language with just a tap. There’s also an option to only browse lightweight webpages when visiting search results, to save mobile data.
Google Go was an experimental app when Google first tested it in August 2017. By launching it to the public, Google is providing newcomers of the web an ease to navigate and know the web, and at the same time, creating a smart way to introduce them to Google's products.
