If celebrities need managers, live streamers need moderators.
Knowing that sometimes, live streamers cannot work alone due to the amount of task they need to do at the same time, Instagram as the most popular image- and video-sharing platform, introduces a way for creators to assign a moderator.
All they need to do, is tap ion the three dots in the comment bar during a live stream.
From there, they can choose a moderator from a list of suggested accounts, or use the search bar to search for a specific account.
After choosing a moderator, the moderator can help the streamer prevent their chats from being filled with spam or any other unwanted messages from viewers.
Instagram said that designated Live Moderators can also report comments, prevent another viewer from commenting on a particular broadcast, or remov a viewer from that broadcast entirely.
Moderation has become a much-needed feature to any live streaming session.
On platforms like YouTube and Twitch, comments on live streams can get ugly pretty quickly.
This is why on those platforms and some others, moderations have been available for at least several years now.
Even Facebook has allowed users to add moderators to their streams.
Instagram live feature has been around since 2016, and knowing that many Instagram users like to create live content, the late introduction of this feature comes with a bit of a shock.
What took Instagram this long before starting to support moderators for its streams.
Regardless, the feature should help Instagram attract more creators to go live on its platform.
