LinkedIn Introduces Content Creator-Focused Tools To Help Users Create More Visual Posts

LinkedIn

Social media platforms on the web are places when people gather and share posts for others to see and engage.

LinkedIn is a business and employment-oriented online service. As a social media platform, it doesn't really what others do. As a "professional" social media, it rarely introduce new features or gimmicks. LinkedIn remains subtle in terms of feature, and tends to keep things straightforward by prioritizing function over gimmicks.

But since everyone else is racing to introduce features to increase engagements, even LinkedIn is tempted.

This is why Linkedin has announced the roll-out of a suite of features dedicated to creators on the platform.

In particular, the updates are meant to make things easier for users to share visual contents.

With the rise of creators and influencers, LinkedIn finally decides that it is time to take a slightly different path, in which it wants to make its platform friendlier to those people.

According to Keren Baruch, Product Lead for Creator Strategy at LinkedIn, in the announcement:

"With a 20% increase YoY in people adding visual content in their posts on LinkedIn, we love seeing new ways professionals are building engaging content through videos and images."

"We want to make it even easier to create visual content that helps you stand out and inspire your professional community [...] "

The first thing LinkedIn introduced, is a clickable link to images and videos.

With the update, creators can encourage others to take further action on or off LinkedIn by simply adding a clickable link directly onto their images and videos.

This allows creators to drive their audience to their website, upcoming event, recent newsletter, or other resources.

To do this, creators can create a new post like usual, but this time, they can tap on the 'Add a link' icon. After that, they can add the URL and a custom link text for it.

Next, is the ability to quickly create posts with templates.

"If you want an easy way for text posts to stand out in the Feed and grab your audience’s attention, we’ve built templates just for you," the post continued.

To do this, creators can head on over to the share box, or tap on 'Post' on mobile, and then tap the 'Use a template' option.

From there, they can easily create visually engaging content for others to see. Here, creators can choose between dozens of customizable backgrounds and fonts, and add their own text.

Creators can also add a clickable link onto templates.

LinkedIn

And lastly, creators can also share swipeable content with carousels.

LinkedIn has started rolling out carousels, which on LinkedIn, is a new content format. It allows users to mix images and videos together, so others can see them in one go.

With the update, users can see carousels on their Feed. LinkedIn is also experimenting with carousels to see how users are engaging with them.

LinkedIn

LinkedIn has plans to add even more tools for sharing content in the future.

Through the updates, LinkedIn is trying to make itself more friendly to content creators and influencers because after all, it's those people who actually drive much of the engagements within LinkedIn.

By pampering those users with the tools needed to make their posts stand out, LinkedIn is taking cues from other social media platforms, in which it finally values users' posts more than ever before.
