YouTube Brings A Dark Theme To Its iOS App, Before Android

Dark Mode enables users to see an alternative interface which is usually a combination of dark colors and black. This should make things easier for the eyes when viewing in a dimly lit environment.

The option to turn YouTube to dark was first introduced among a series of updates to the YouTube desktop experience back in May 2017. Soon, the option to enable dark theme to mobile became one of the top request YouTube received.

Here, the popular video-streaming platform introduces dark theme to iOS.

With the setting enabled, the app's white background turns black throughout the YouTube experience. Besides better on the eyes when viewing YouTube on dark environment, this should also make YouTube to have a better cinematic feel, and a better battery consumption (especially on iPhones using OLED screens).

To use the feature, users can toggle it on and off within YouTube's app settings.

The option is available starting March 14th, 2018 on iOS. According to YouTube, the company is looking forward to bring this feature to Android, as Google often updates its iOS apps before its own system.
