Alphabet Inc., is a conglomerate company, and the parent company of Google and several other companies previously owned and operated by the search giant. Founded by Google's co-founders Larry Page and Sergey Brin, the company's reorganization completed on October 2nd, 2015.
Alphabet's portfolio ranges from several industries that include technology, life sciences, investment capital and research. Its subsidiaries include Google, Calico, Google Ventures, Google Capital, Google X and Nest Labs.
Following the restructuring, Page became the CEO of Alphabet while Sundar Pichai took his position as Google's CEO. Google's stocks have been converted to Alphabets'.
Alphabet is meant to be Google's desire to embrace wider industries while keeping everything controlled under one management, and to make sure that Google stays as an internet business service that is "cleaner and more accountable" while allowing greater prospects for the future of its businesses unrelated to the internet.
