Elon Musk Becomes The Number One Diablo IV Player In The World: Raising Too Many Eyebrows

Elon Musk is a 53-year-old man, the CEO of a number of companies, with a long list of achievements under his belt.

This time, he's adding yet another to his collection: the world's best Diablo IV player.

Musk posted on his own X account, formerly known as Twitter, a clip of his sub-2:00 run, showing him completing a part of the game, known as 'Pit 150', which is notoriously challenging.

His 1:56 run is a whole three seconds faster than the reigning number-one record holder, Resistance, who clocked 1:59.

With the countdown clock showing that there's still 13:04 seconds left when he finishes the game, the record puts him as the number-one player in the game.

And this is where things get sketchy.

First of, yes, it's true that Elon Musk is not 'some ordinary man'.

He is known for many things, achieving feats that no other men before him can. But achieving a world-class level in playing games has never been one of it.

Musk is now the most richest man on Earth, and that he's also a businessman who leads and makes profits on more than a handful of companies he founded (and acquired).

And not to mention about the buzz about U.S. President-elect Donald Trump electing Musk as the co-leader of his proposed Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), which is a planned U.S. presidential advisory commission aims to streamline the U.S. federal government and reduce inefficiency. The name "DOGE" is a playful nod to the Dogecoin cryptocurrency and meme, which Musk has famously supported.

He is also a father of 12 children from three different women, and that one of his life goals is to make humanity an interplanetary species.

Long story short, Musk is far too busy.

He is not some content creators or streamers, or some others who can spend a lot of their time playing games.

Musk definitely isn't that kind of person.

Musk is operating on an entirely different level.

So, the question is, how could Elon Musk have enough time to evolve his Diablo IV character, and gather enough experience and skills to be the number one Diablo IV player in the world?

Speculations suggest that Musk paid people to crank up his characters, and have them trade between themselves. He may also have those people spend real money on Mythics Uniques, which are essentially the rarest and most powerful items in the game.

Elon then played the game once a day, or for just a few hours, but only when they're maxed, and shared them to the internet.

"That's what the ultra-rich do - pay others to do the drudge work," one X user suggests.

Or, Musk could be lying, one user predicted.

"When you’re worth $300 billion you can probably afford to buy an account that has all the proper items and rolls," the person said.

"I was laughing at the idea of this guy making everyone believe he's some sort of rocket scientist genius saving the planet one billionaire at a time and working 20 different jobs," another user wrote after Musk posted his record-breaking time.

"When in actual fact he's sat in a dark room button mashing for 20 hours a day with intermittent photoshoot breaks with Trump and various rockets to keep up the pretense."

In other words, it's hypothesized that Musk was using his money to increase his run.

While Musk was celebrating his win online, many users have shared their doubts. Avid Diablo IV players, or speedrunners in particular, know how much time they need to achieve similar results.

So here, Musk may have proven to the world that he owns the account considered the number-one Diablo IV player in the world. But pretty much everybody isn't convinced that the billionaire has achieved the record from good old-fashioned time and hard work.

Diablo IV Spiritborn.
The Spiritborn is a class for Diablo IV. It became playable in the 'Vessel of Hatred' expansion, which players will have to purchase in order to play as the class.

Diablo IV is a dark fantasy action role-playing game (ARPG) developed and published by Blizzard Entertainment. It's the fourth main installment in the Diablo franchise and takes place in the world of Sanctuary, a gothic, demon-infested realm where players battle enemies, complete quests, and gather loot.

The game has been met with a generally positive reception, bolstered by its dark fantasy themes, expansive open world, and immersive character-building systems.

Its gameplay, which revolves around dungeon-crawling, loot collection, and strategic combat, has appealed to both newcomers and long-time fans of the series.

To create a powerful character, players need to level up, acquire better gears, unlock new skills, and improve stats. This involves completing quests, defeating enemies, and optimizing skill trees to match your desired playstyle.

From maximizing strengths and minimizing weaknesses of their character, players also need to "theorycrafting" which refers to the process of researching and testing builds to find the most effective setup, and do a lot of grinding and farming.

a significant part of building the best character often involves grinding for experience, gold, or rare loot (gear or runes) to enhance performance.

In all, it players need dedication to the game to create a powerful character.

While Musk is known for spending a lot of time online on X, and that he was seen playing Diablo IV and being good at it, he definitely isn't the man who can spend time to sit and play some games online for an indefinite amount of time.

It's later reported that Musk achieved his feat using the Quill Volley Spiritborn build, which is one of the most powerful and overpowered configurations in the game, capable of dealing immense damage due to a persistent bug.
