But a man in Natar in Lampung Selatan Regency has been accused of betraying that sacred role in the cruelest way possible.
Identified only by his initials NP and aged 48, he now stands as the prime suspect in the repeated sexual abuse of his own biological daughter, a 10 year old girl.
But unlike most similar cases, this one is unique because the victim has given her own remarkably detailed testimony.
She is able to recount the incidents in great detail, with specific dates and circumstances that she remembered clearly even amid her tears and profound trauma.
The horrors allegedly began in mid January 2025 and continued for more than a year with the most recent incident occurring on the night of May 11, 2026 around 00:10 local time when the house was empty and the child was left alone with him.
Her mother had been working as a migrant laborer in Taiwan leaving the young girl under the sole care of her father at their family home in Natar.
According to the girl's own heartbreaking account given to investigators and her legal team, the abuse unfolded repeatedly when the two were alone in the house. The father would force her into the bedroom and that he would take off his pants. He then allegedly made her touch his genitals while instructing her exactly how to do it saying things like "do it like this."
While no penetration has ever occured, according to the girl's statement, these obscene acts include rubbing, fondling and squeezing.
The acts allegedly occurred at least five times inside their own home with the father exploiting every moment the house was quiet and no one else was around to witness or intervene.
When asked whether the girl knows anything about these kind of acts, like of her siblings taught her, or whether she heard from someone else, the girl said that she learned about them from no one, and feel violated, even though she did not fully understand what was happening.
The girl lived under constant threats and pressure from the man who was supposed to protect her never daring to speak until the weight of the trauma became unbearable.
Family members also suspect she endured repeated physical violence in the same household adding layers of fear to the sexual violations.
When she finally gathered the courage to confide in her mother and relatives the truth spilled out in heartbreaking detail. Instead of returning to her fathers house the child sought refuge with relatives in Panjang Bandar Lampung.
On May 13, 2026 the family filed an official report at the Lampung Regional Police headquarters under case number LP/B/358/V/2026/SPKT/POLDA LAMPUNG.
