A hotline phone number is where people can contact a company or organization, where they can be directed to a pre-selected destination without any additional action. With it, they can communicate their needs and inquiry.
Google is the search giant of the web. When most of its communications with customers are done with automated email or through its Support pages, the company was putting less focus on its hotline.
Here, the company was found to have a wrong number for its hotline.
Google first set up a dedicated hotline back in May 2019, for those who needed to be convinced about Google's smart home products and others. But with a wrong phone number, customer calls won't be answered because the line simply didn’t work.
The company has listed this wrong number on a number of its product pages, for months.

According to Android Police that discovered the mistake, Google messed up one of the digits by putting down (855) 244-6378 instead of (855) 224-6378.
After receiving the notice, Google fixed the mistake.
While it wasn't clear whether Google had listed wrong numbers on all of its products, but Android Police suggested that the issue persisted across numerous pages.
"We aren't sure if all product pages were affected, but checking Internet Archive backups, many of them were," explained Android Police.
"Some changed back and forth between the correct and incorrect phone number a few times over the last couple of months, but yesterday someone at Google appears to have finally noticed and replaced the offending digits across all product listings."
