Prabowo Subianto, the president-elect for the 2024-2029 term, personally welcomed Nathaniel Philip Victor James Rothschild, the Chairman of Volex Plc and a fifth-generation scion of the global Rothschild family, in Batam.
Nat Rothschild, as he is commonly known, is expanding his company's presence in the Batam industrial area by inaugurating the third factory, PT Volex Indonesia, in Sekupang, Batam.
According to reports, Prabowo was accompanied by his brother, Hashim Djojohadikusumo.
Also present were Kepri Governor Ansar Ahmad, Police Chief Yan Fitri Halimansyah, Batam Mayor Muhammad Rudi, and the management of PT Volex Indonesia.
The inauguration of Volex's third factory was marked by the signing of a plaque by Prabowo Subianto and Kepri Governor Ansar Ahmad, witnessed by Nat Rothschild.
On this occasion, Prabowo acknowledged his close friendship with Rothschild.
He expressed pride in the expansion of the British company.
According to him, Volex continues to show a positive growth trend, both in terms of business expansion and production development.
"Especially after I was invited to tour and see various production results, all of which meet the needs of foreign exports. Moreover, the production quality itself has been recognized as adequate," said Defense Minister Prabowo.
Volex itself is a company engaged in the manufacturing of cables and electronic connectors since 1992.
Prabowo believes that Volex, which has long been established in Batam, will develop into a modern and advanced industry. Volex Indonesia also serves various markets and customers with expertise in cable assembly, high-level assembly, data center power and connectivity, including electric vehicle charging and consumer electrical products.
"Moreover, I am committed to supporting the advancement of the industrial sector in various fields. With the excellence of both natural and human resources, our country will be able to grow into an advanced and competitive industrial nation. Batam City is one of the areas that will drive Indonesia's industrial progress," said Prabowo.

The Rothschild family is an Ashkenazi Jewish banking noble family originating from Frankfurt, Germany.

As for Nat Rothschild, he is a British-born financier residing in Switzerland.
Having a wide range of international business interests, Nat is listed as the controller of Volex Plc, a UK-registered company.
He became the 5th Baron Rothschild after his father Jacob Rothschild, the 4th Baron Rothschild, passed away on February 26, 2024.
Nat is the youngest of four siblings and the only son of Jacob Rothschild and his wife Serena Rothschild, and is no stranger to investing in Indonesia.
He once partnered with the Bakrie family through Bakrie & Brothers in the coal company Bumi Plc, and announced that he was buying stakes for $3 billion. However, their partnership broke down due to a financial scandal involving a $200 million shortfall in financial reports in 2012.
Nat Rothschild was subsequently reported to have left the company, selling his 17.2% stake to Coal Energy Ventures.
