Tulisa Contostavlos Wins Court Apology Over Her Leaked Sex Tape: 'I Trusted Him'

21/03/2012

Lovers are, lovers, and that they're expected to love each other, both emotionally, and physically.

Ever since the very first viral celebrity sex tape, the internet has seen tons of others that followed.

One after another, more and more sex tapes were leaked, intentionally or not.

While some are legit, most others remain allegations. And the one that involved Tulisa Contostavlos, simply follows a similar pattern.

The popular 1988-born singer, songwriter, rapper, television personality, and actress, has her sex tape leaked on the internet.

In the video, which is shot in the point-of-view of the man, shows Tulisa on her knees.

The English singer, who wears a pink clothing and a black bra, gives fellatio to the man, until he seemingly ejaculated.

The former N-Dubz star, was also a judge on the X-Factor when the video made with Justin Edwards first emerged online in 2012.

Tulisa was in relationship with Justin from the age of 17 until 21, suggesting that the sex tape was made at one point during that time.

It's said that the sex tape was leaked by Justin himself, before it was picked up by adult websites.

This made Tulisa a victim of revenge porn.

"This is someone that I loved, that I trusted, that meant the world to me, that I feel deeply betrayed by," she said, in a response to the sex tape, in a video on YouTube.

"I am sure that everyone at home has had intimate moments with someone they cared about and never expected at any point that they would go and share it with the rest of the world."

She also said she had been warned by friends beforehand that it could surface.

"That's something I regret. I mean of course I regret it, wouldn't you?" she said.

"But when I made it, I wasn't that famous. I was in a relationship with the person for two years and I trusted him. Everything I've been through has taught me how to become a more understanding person. I care more about other people's emotions now. I can relate when people are going through a tough time. I am a less judgemental person because of what I've been through."

Later, she reflected on her time on X Factor and the sex tape leak.

"The first year was a very happy time. I think it was the tape where it all went wrong for me mentally."

"When the tape came out I felt like I had lost control again. This isn’t how I wanted to be portrayed as and afterwards going back out there, it was the thought of facing the audience, the crowd. Even though I was a judge I was being judged. More than anyone, more than the contestants. The judges get judged the most."

Tulisa was granted an injunction that legally blocks the distribution of the tape.

The civil case was then settled in July 2012, with Edwards not being convicted.

"I am relieved that this is finally over. It has been a very testing few months and this was not a case I ever wanted to go through."

"I stand here today a stronger, wiser young woman who has taken this experience and learnt from it. I am disgusted by Justin and saddened by the people that believed I released the footage myself."

"Justin Edwards's actions were to spite me, make money and ruin my career. He has succeeded in none of these things … "

"I would now like to draw a line under this and put it in the past. I also would like to thank from the bottom of my heart, the fans that stood by me. I'm especially grateful for all the support I have received from the public, my friends, family and team. With that support and my determination I have won this battle. Justin messed with the wrong woman."

Tulisa first came into the spotlight in the entertainment industry, when she became a member of the R&B/hip hop group N-Dubz with her cousin Dappy and friend Fazer.

Later, she became one of the biggest names in music, after becoming a judge at The X Factor, and mentored the girl band Little Mix. Despite three of her four acts being eliminated in the first five weeks of the competition, Little Mix went on to become the most successful girl group in X Factor history.

Tulisa is also a solo artist, with a number of hits, and also a songwriter, having written Britney Spears' hit Scream & Shout, initially titled I Don't Give A F**k, before her name was removed from the credit after her producer gave the track to will.i.am and Britney.

Following the case, Tulisa received compensation, and that dozens of websites were forced to remove the footage.

But the nature of the internet does not guarantee that the footage will remain away, because it didn't take long before people started uploading the 6-minute video to adult websites and others.
