YouTube Disables Ads On 2 Million Inappropriate Children's Videos

YouTube is having troubles in policing contents on its platform.

It was discovered that YouTube hosted child-exploitation material, and they were uploaded onto its platform with videos depicting children in abusive situations gaining millions of views. The bizarre and disturbing contents had even bypassed YouTube Kid's filters.

After realizing, and heavily criticized, the video-streaming platform has removed more than 270 accounts and more than 150,000 videos. It also switched off commenting on 625,000 videos targeted by child predators.

The news also came after YouTube's advertising partners that include: Adidas, Deutsche Bank, Cadbury, and Hewlett-Packard and others, have frozen their advertising campaign on the platform after finding their ads were being played alongside abusive content.

"Over the past week we removed ads from nearly 2 million videos and over 50,000 channels masquerading as family-friendly content," said YouTube. "Content that endangers children is abhorrent and unacceptable to us."

This comes just shortly after YouTube's autofilling search feature was discovered to also had pedophiliac terms.

At the time, when users searched something like "how to," the autocomplete generator can suggest "have s*x kids" and "have s*x with your kids."

After realizing that matter, YouTube has since removed those autofill terms.

YouTube said that it's taking these matters under investigation. "Earlier today our teams were alerted to this awful autocomplete result and we worked to quickly remove it," said YouTube. "We are investigating this matter to determine what was behind the appearance of this autocompletion."
