The AI field was kind of boring, and that the ripples the technology sent barely made beyond its realms.
But following OpenAI's introduction of ChatGPT, the world was quickly in awed. Tech companies created an arms race, and the rest is history.
And Anthropic is one of those players.
This time, the company is releasing a new feature for its AI chatbot Claude it calls the 'tool use.'
Or also called the 'function calling,' it allows developers to use its AI and hook it up with any external API and data.
With it, developers should be able to easily create an email assistant, a bot to purchase things online, or other personalized solutions.
In a website post, Anthropic said that:
And because it also works images, it also enables applications that analyze visual data.
An example Anthropic gave is that a virtual interior design consultant can use this tool to process room images and provide personalized decoration suggestions.
And because it can also be hooked up to log and historical data, the AI can be used to create recommendations based on users' activities or purchase, or provide quick responses to inquiries, including the tracking of order status, or offering real-time support, all based on users' known preferences.
According to Dianne Penn, a project lead at Anthropic, the team has been beta testing the Claude tool use since April with a few thousand customers.
With it, she anticipates the rise of AI solutions and tools to solve a lot of problems.
Another way of saying it, Anthropic tool use allows the creations of bots, that would automate tasks in a much more intelligent way.

In the world that is now occupied by generative AI, the technology has yet to show 'real' meaningful uses for white-collar work.
AI tools from OpenAI, Google, Meta and others, managed to astonish the public with their abilities, aiding work and jobs. But their AI-powered chatbots are far from being useful when it comes to office uses
This happens because AI chatbots are generally restricted to just respond through the chat interface they are given by their creators.
Anthropic is stepping this up, by allowing the creation of 'AI agents,' which can take action by operating other software on a computer or via the internet.
This, is its attempt to make generative AI leap a step ahead in usefulness.
The idea, is to make AI advance to a bigger picture, by giving it an ability to develop its own tool.
In the end, this should make AI a lot more powerful, if ever humanity will walk and work side-by-side with machines, like colleagues.
