Applause, the software and app quality company that makes use of crowdsourced testing, announced on July 1st, 2014, that it's commencing a strategic partnership with IBM to create collaborative app quality and performance tools for the enterprise.
The two firms have previously worked together on mobile app quality solutions to help companies. And the partnership is saying that IBM is now relying on Applause to bring its enterprise customers solution to their apps' performance and development from app store and beyond.
As a result, IBM gives its enterprise customers products to Applause which then analyze their apps' performance at each step in the product life cycle. The team have co-developed mobile app quality solutions that enable companies to improve app quality. These offerings take the form of both on-premise and cloud-based solutions.
Matt Johnston, Applause's Chief Marketing and Strategy Officer, explained that the two companies have been talking about commencing this partnership for quite awhile.
"In the past year, we've discovered that IBM and Applause share a worldview about the growing criticality of application quality," said Applause CEO Doron Reuveni. "In the apps economy, users decide which apps, brands and businesses win, and which ones lose. Working with IBM to advance the market's understanding of 360 degree mobile app quality will help companies launch better mobile experience and beat their competition."
Earlier in 2014, the company reported a 4000 percent growth in 4 years. In January, the company raised a $43 million round led by Goldman Sachs and added a number of new products. Founded in 2008 under the name uTest, the company officially changed its name to Applause in early May 2014 with an expanded app quality vision, integrated app quality tools and services.
That same day, the company announced its formal entry into the European Union market by acquiring Testhub.
Applause is leading the app quality revolution by enabling companies to deliver digital experiences from web to mobile to wearables and beyond. By combining its testing services, software tools and analytics, Applause helps companies achieve the 260-degree app quality they need to thrive in the modern app economy and competition. in-the-wild testing services, software tools and analytics, Applause helps companies achieve the 360 degree app quality they need to thrive in the modern apps economy.
Google, Fox, Amazon, Box, Concur and Runkeeper are some that use Applause's service.
And for IBM, it is a global technology and innovation company, and the largest technology and consulting employer in the world (400,000 employees serving clients in 170 countries). IBM offers a wide range of technology and consulting services; a broad portfolio for collaboration, predictive analytics, software development and systems management; and advanced servers and supercomputers. IBM that was behind the inventions of the PC; SABRE travel reservation system; UPC codes, Watson, and much more, helps clients become "smarter" as the earth becomes more digitally interconnected.
With Applause, IBM can add a stronger focus on mobile tools to their portfolio of enterprise offerings around application development. And for Applause, the company will get larger audience that is full of potential clients - IBM's global enterprise customer base.
The two companies fit well together because both share a future vision of mobile app testing that takes place outside the usual "lab environment," and because both companies "view the world the same way," Johnston said.
