Facebook Celebrates End Of 2017 By Introducing Its Own Holiday Features

As the end of 2017 is near, everyone has expectations for celebrating the New Years Eve and the holidays.

This is the time when people share the most, and Facebook is anticipating that by bringing some features to help users celebrate, that includes new effects for Facebook Camera and, for the first time, Memories designed specifically around the holidays.

Holiday cards or "notes" allows users to send digital cards with different themes as well as for different holidays, including Christmas, Kwanzaa, and Hanukkah.

Users can customize the cards with their own photos. Facebook is also giving status updates with a bunch of holiday-themed backgrounds.

As for Messenger, Facebook is bringing a number of different camera effects. For example, users can add Santa and Rudolph filters, along with colorful Christmas light frames. And just like its other Camera effects, the holiday options can be accessed in-app with a right swipe.

What's more, Messenger's Camera is also bringing a bunch of holiday effects and masks, which can be used by users to spice up their photos and videos.

And because the end of the year is the time to wrap everything up, Facebook is also launching Memories dedicated for the reason.

While Facebook Memories allows users to look back on what happened this day last year or look back on an entire month, the Memories for holidays is the first of its type. Rather than looking back on users' own holiday memories, the tool curates a group of the top images from friends to browse through.

At its initial announcement, the features are still under development and aren't quite done yet.

Facebook is also encouraging users to use the events platform to find local New Year’s Eve happenings, with more than 140,000 users already planned and six million users already responding.
